We used to have about an acre around our house sprayed for fleas and he could have done more - that worked good. We had a lot of acreage but I don't think the dog or cats roamed that far off. I don't remember fleas bothering the horses - though the ticks were a nuisance. We use FrontLine Plus on our dogs now, you put the liquid on their back and it enters their system. Instructions says use once a month but we have small dogs, 15lbs and the vet said 2-even 3 months is OK as they aren't out in the fields much. We rarely see a flea.
